In general ferrets are hardy creatures but it is important to watch your ferret carefully for signs of any health problem. Always consult a veterinary surgeon promptly for advice if your ferret shows signs of:

• Breathing difficulties
• Black tarry faeces
• Convulsions
• Coughing
• Diarrhoea
• Discharge from eyes, ears or nose
• Fever
• Lumps or tumours
• Paralysis
• Persistent listlessness
• Persistent scratching
• Sudden weight loss
• Swollen feet
• Tenderness or swelling of a limb
• Vomiting
